Happy 4th of July

We had a fun-filled holiday weekend.....and today I think we are all exhausted. We went over to Matt & Nikki's for a cookout and their own "Missouri" fireworks on Sunday. The kiddos had a great time playing and eating. Once the fireworks display started, Greta freaked out a little bit. We ended up leaving because she just wouldn't really calm down. At that point, we decided there was no way we were going to the riverfront fireworks on Monday night in Peoria. The fireworks are amazing, but if Greta wasn't enjoying herself it would be a nightmare. So on Monday we went to a cookout at another friends house. Again, the kiddos had a blast playing outside, in the water, and on a trampoline. Everyone else decided to go to the fireworks in the small town we were in (Pekin). I thought that sounded more realistic with Greta. So I talked her into going by using earplugs. We all drove over to a golf course, and pulled out chairs and blankets. Greta, Lucca and Reece had a blast running in the grass, wrestling, and catching lightning bugs prior to the fireworks. Once the fireworks started, Greta panicked a little bit. But after spending some time hiding her head under a blanket, she eventually warmed up to them and liked it. By the end of the display she didn't even want to sit with us, she kept plopping down on other mom's laps or just playing with her friends. So glad we were able to enjoy the fireworks!

Greta and Lucca together. They look so old in this picture. Can't believe they've been going to school together since Greta was 3 months old.

Pic of Reece and Lucca. Of course, I was unsuccessful ever getting a picture of all 3 of them together.

That's my classy daughter....skirt hiked up, and she is wearing Lucca's shoes for some reason.
Reece's dad taught them how to catch fireflies. G was impressed.

I see what you mean about Lucca and G. They look like first graders, that picture of G with the lightning bug looks like Er. Keep the pictures coming. And I think you can't dance around with a dress on and not have it go over your head at some point. love gma Kiki
